Spring Elopement in York - A POP OF COLOUR!

York has held a special place in my heart for years, from trips as a kid to the Jorvik Viking museum to impromptu weekend trips away with Allie and eventually our kids too! Steeped in history and equally embracing modern, innovative businesses and lifestyles. A small and accessible city pretty much has it all.. Perfect for any type of wedding day.

It’s super fun to walk the old cobbled streets of York at the best of times, but on this colourful styled shoot with Kellie and Chrissy at the helm, it was pretty exhilarating!

We began by exploring the side streets by the York Museum Gardens, which is also conveniently close by to the York Registry office if you’re looking for a short and sweet elopement ceremony in the City and want to explore all it has to offer!

Also close by is the Merchant Adventurers Hall, a medieval timber framed guildhall museum that can easily lend itself to the perfect intimate gathering of your favourite humans!

Making New Traditions

There’s something about making new traditions and not conforming to the pressures of society that really resonates with me, so the chance to jump on board and be a part of this shoot was an absolute joy! A wedding day should completely reflect you as a couple, even if you’re a sucker for traditions, it doesn’t mean it has to lack your personality. Ask questions to your suppliers, let them get to know you a little and help out to inject those quirks into your day.

Inclusivity & The Church

Couple Kellie and Chrissy are models who regularly help out with Styled shoots and also actively campaign for LGBTQIA+ rights helping make sure our industry and others are inclusive as well as educated. So to be able to take their love for each other to the Streets of York and around the iconic Minster, (where same sex marriage still isn’t recognised by law.. or Church) where they say LGBTQIA+ are welcome, but ya can’t marry here (soz, or not!) which just goes to show, these folks are far from welcoming all walks and pro choices in life.

Of course this shoot was less of a protest or act of defiance and more of a celebration of Love, colour and unique ideas, to push the boundaries within the Wedding industry to help give inspiration to awesome couples and vendors to collaborate even further.

The Look

Kellie was dressed with a nod to the 80’s in a short brightly coloured pink party dress, paired with an impressive flower arrangement from Daisy Hoban Floral Design really made a statement against the old Brickwork and towering Stone walls. Chrissy styled in a complimentary Blue tailored Jacket and ankle length trousers showing that you can place your own style without compromise, even on yer Wedding day!

This shoot was pulled together by an awesome bunch of suppliers that, you should definitely check out!
